Grand Blanc Township To Break Ground on New Fire Station, DPW Building
New Facility Will Enhance Safety for Firefighters and Provide Expanded Space for Critical Public Works Operations
GRAND BLANC, MI—Grand Blanc Township is excited to announce a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Fire Station and Department of Public Works (DPW) building. The event will take place on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at the site of the new facilities, 5272 South Dort Highway.
“We are proud to be investing in infrastructure that will benefit both our emergency services and our public works teams,” said Scott Bennett, Township Supervisor. “This new facility will allow us to better serve our residents by providing our firefighters a safe environment to work, ensuring our first responders are able to provide the best possible service to our community.”
The new, state-of-the-art Fire Station will provide much-needed space and better safety features to protect firefighters. Currently, Fire Station #1 is connected to the Township’s main offices and the limited space poses several safety challenges. The new facility will address these challenges by creating ample space between gear carrying carcinogens and daily operations.
Additionally, the Department of Public Works, which provides critical Township services, including provisions for safe and reliable drinking water and sanitary sewer, has outgrown their space in the Township’s main office. This expansion will allow for better organization and storage of equipment.
The new building will support the Township’s commitment to deliver premier services to residents, including high-quality public safety. Construction on the building is expected to be completed in 2026.
Township Supervisor, Scott Bennett, will be joined by the Fire Chief and DPW Directors for the ceremonial first dig. The groundbreaking ceremony is free and open to the public; residents are encouraged to attend and learn more about this important project.
